Emergency services are a main priority in Champlin, Minnesota. The Anoka-Champlin Fire Department operates with about 41 volunteer firefighters which cover a total of about 16 square miles. The facility has four engines, two grass rigs, two aerial trucks and other equipment designed to respond to any type of fire emergency in the area. The department uses white vehicles which are reminiscent of the times when firefighters had to use white horses to pull the engines. The town of Champlin has a number of recreational facilities scattered throughout the city, including sport fields, courts, trails and parks. The Champlin Parks and Public Works department maintains all of these facilities as well as the area's boat launch area along the Mississippi River, the park buildings, municipal buildings, ice skating rinks and more.
